Callie's Story

Hello all! My name is Callie Walker, and I am a 25 year old born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama now living in the crazy world that is New York City.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre from The University of Alabama in May of 2020. I am sure you can imagine how the rest of that year played out. I had all these plans post-graduation that just fell to pieces. I was supposed to travel the world performing on a cruise line, perform as Elle Woods in a production of Legally Blonde, and begin a life in the “real world”.

When the world of theatre began to reopen in the fall of 2021, I felt so scared to put myself out there again. Of course my family was there supporting me all of the way. I was incredibly fortunate to perform in several shows in the latter half of 2021 and a show in the early part of 2022. The friends and mentors I met through those experiences really encouraged me to move to NYC as soon as possible. I was terrified. Being completely candid… I never actually thought I would really move to New York. I am such a home body and family gal. I sat in that comfort zone throughout the pandemic and wasn’t sure if I could make the “big” move.

I took a huge leap of faith in March of 2022 and said “3 bucks, 2 bags, 1 me!!!” and I moved to NYC. It took an immense amount of bravery for me to move to a city with millions of people and pursue a career that I am so passionate about. It takes guts to chase after your dreams.

Being bold, brave and brilliant is not something that is learned on your own. It is taught and fostered in you by the people who love you most. My move to New York would never have happened without the support of my friends and family. I am grateful for them every single day because of it.
