My Story

Hi! My name is Makalyn Heaslett, and I am a 23-year-old native of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. I graduated from Auburn University with my Bachelor's of Arts in Public Relations as well as minors in Philanthropy & Nonprofit Studies and Leadership. Currently, I am a Ticket Sales Representative for the Chicago Cubs.

I began working with Girls Inc. in the summer of 2015 in Birmingham, Alabama where I served as a volunteer, swim coordinator and mentor. Through advocacy and fundraising I have raised over $14,785.41 for Girls Inc. to further their mission of making sure all girls grow up strong, smart and bold. These funds have given young girls the opportunity to attend summer camps, kept their food pantry stocked, provided turkeys on Thanksgiving & Christmas for the girls and their families, community gardens,

In 2018 I began to notice there was a need to be filled in our school systems that Girls Inc. could not reach, that is why I started Be Bold, Brave & Brilliant. I believe that if we can begin teaching our children at a young age to be bold in their beliefs, brave when facing opposition and brilliant in their decisions they will be better equipped to succeed in life.

I am truly passionate about being the change you wish to see in the world and that is why I am asking you all to join in me in creating a movement of mentorship across our nation!
